How To Use Radix DM Health Check

The Radix DM Admin Health Check is an information screen that is displayed to Radix DM Administrators when the Radix DM Grabber is started. This screen can be invoked at any time by these users by right-clicking on the Radix DM Grabber and selecting the option Admin Health Check. Descriptions of the information displayed are listed below:

General Details

Deleted Items: This is the count of documents that have been deleted in Radix DM. These documents are still stored in Radix DM until they are purged by a Radix DM Administrator through the Purge All Deleted Items and Delete Permanently functions available from the Administration tab in Radix DM Search.

Last Database Reindex: This is the last time that Radix DM database was reindexed. Reindexing the database allows for improved performance by optimising data layout in the Radix DM SQL Server database. This reindexing should probably be performed once a month. This can be performed in Radix DM Administration by selecting Maintenance > Reindex.

Check Out Items past expiry: Documents can be checked out from Radix DM. In order to avoid situations where users forget to check in documents that they have checked out, this information will alert Radix DM Administrators with a count of the number of documents that remain checked out for longer than two weeks.

Total Checked Out items: This is the count of documents that are currently checked out from Radix DM.

Crawler Details

The Radix DM Crawler program verifies that data stored about the documents in Radix DM matches the actual file details. This is generally set up to run as a scheduled task.

Last Crawler run time: This information lists the last time the Radix DM Crawler was run.

Crawler Machine: This information lists the machine used the last time the Radix DM Crawler was run.

Indexer Details

The Radix DM Indexer is a program, generally installed on only a single machine, which manages the text indexing of documents stored in Radix DM.

Text Index Queue Length: As documents are created or modified in Radix DM, they are added to the queue of documents that must be indexed for the purposes of text searching. This information lists the number of documents that are yet to be indexed.

Oldest Index Queue item: This is the oldest date that a file was added to the index queue that has yet to be processed by the Radix DM Indexer.

Indexer Service information: This lists information about the machines on which the Radix DM Indexer is installed.

Machine: This is the name of a machine that the Radix DM Indexer is installed on.

Enabled: This lists whether or not the Radix DM Indexer is enabled on the machine on which it is installed.

Last Start Time: This is the last time the Radix DM Indexer was started on this machine.

Last Action Time: This is the last time an indexing process was started on this machine.
