Step 6: Administration - Users

Step 6: Administration - Users

One important facet of document management is the need for security.  Not all documents should be accessible to all users.  For example, Jenny's business plans contain sensitive information that only she need know.  To control users' access to different library groups, Jenny will need to create a Workgroup.

To create a workgroup, click on the Security Navigation Tab and then the Workgroups Menu Item.  Click the Add Function Button.

Because the library group 'Correspondence' should be available to all users, Jenny will start by creating a workgroup that gives permission for everyone to have access to these documents.  In the Name text box, enter "General Access".   Beneath some additional text fields there are two grids containing lists of Users and Library Groups.  You will see the 'Correspondence' library group that you created earlier listed here in the Library Groups grid on the bottom right of the form.  This grid contains all the library groups that have been created in Radix DM.  The column labelled 'Access Level' next to 'Correspondence' currently has the value "No Access".  Jenny wants users to not only be able to read documents in the 'Correspondence' library group, but also to save new correspondence and modify existing material.  However, at this time, she would rather not let users delete documents.  To change this 'Access Level' value from "No Access", simply click the drop down box for the row corresponding to the 'Correspondence' library group and select the option "Read + Save + Modify", then click Save.
