Radix DM is a Windows based document management system that uses Microsoft SQL Server to maintain information about documents stored in one or more shared network locations. These documents are made available to all licensed users who have the Radix DM Client program installed locally.
For all our examples, we use the notation "2.0.x" to refer to the current version of the software. For example, if the current version of Radix DM is version 2.0.29, then the term "RadixDMInstallation2.0.X.exe" refers to a file called RadixDMInstallation2.0.29.exe.
This installation guide is intended for use by a network administrator. The guide assumes a working knowledge of network shares, folder permissions, Windows services and working with Microsoft SQL Server.
After Radix DM is installed the Radix DM Administration program is used to create users, set permissions and configure library groups. This configuration is best undertaken by a person with a detailed knowledge of the organisation’s filing and information management requirements.
While Radix DM is designed to be installed on a Microsoft Windows Server based network with multiple users the software can also be installed on a single computer if required. Simply follow the installation instructions provided on a single computer. Please ensure that Microsoft SQL Server or Microsoft SQL Server Express is installed on the computer before starting the installation process.
If your organisation has branch offices then Radix DM can be installed on a central server and then accessed from both head office and the branch offices. All users must be on the same domain and have access to the central Microsoft SQL Server database (named RadixDM2) as well as the central Radix DM share.
Locations can be configured in Radix DM Administration allowing Library Groups to be configured that store documents locally on a branch office server that can still be accessed by users at other offices. Please contact us if you would like more information about the best way to configure your multi-site Radix DM installation.
