Saving a file from the Desktop or Windows Explorer is as simple as left-clicking and dragging the file to the Radix DM Grabber. This will bring up the Document Save window where the appropriate library group is selected and information about the document is added before saving.

Documents can be saved directly from within Microsoft Word and other Office applications without using the Radix DM Grabber. Simply click on the RDM Save button on the main title bar. Clicking on this button will bring up the Document Save Window where the necessary information about the document is added before saving. Additional Office options will also be available depending on the application.

There are three ways to save documents in Microsoft Outlook. One or more documents can be dragged to the Radix DM Grabber from an Inbox or Sent Items folder. This will bring up the Document Save Window where the necessary information about the document is added before saving. Note the four email fields Mail Date, Mail From, Mail To and Mail Direction. These fields have been defined to automatically gather information from each email when it is profiled. Any emails saved this way remain in their original folder.

If the Radix DM Grabber program has been started, then starting Microsoft Outlook will add a Radix DM button to the Outlook toolbar. This button allows users to save email directly from within Microsoft Outlook. In Outlook the choice exists to Save Messages which leaves the emails in their original folder, or to Move Messages, which will remove the emails from their original folder after saving. It is possible to also save attachments for either of these options with Save Messages and Attachments and Move Messages and Attachments. Finally, it is possible to not save the email and only save the attachment using the option Save Attachments Only.

Finally, every email has a RDM Save button that allows users to save the currently open email into Radix DM. This will bring up the Document Save Window where the necessary information about the document is added before saving. Any emails saved this way remain in their original folder.
There are two different methods for saving information about web sites. The first method is to save the web site's address (or URL) as a hyperlink only. To do this, click on the address from the browser's address bar and drag it to the Radix DM Grabber. In the dialog that appears, check the option Hyperlink. Once this option has been selected, the Document Save window will appear with the title set to the web address. After this, the document can be saved like any other.
It is also possible to save an entire web site to Radix DM. To do this, drag the address from the browser's address bar as before but in the dialog that appears check the option HTML. If desired, the web site can be previewed in the small window by clicking Preview. Once this option has been selected the Document Save window will appear with the title set to the web address. Radix DM will then store the entire contents of the web page, including images as one file.

Objects that are not entire files can also be saved to Radix DM. The contents of the clipboard can be profiled like ordinary documents. There are two ways to do this. If data can be selected, then it can be dragged from its original source directly to the Radix DM Grabber for profiling. In the dialog that appears, select the appropriate format for the data that is being saved. This will bring up the Document Save Window where the necessary information about the document is added before saving.
In a similar manner, information that has been copied to the clipboard can be saved to Radix DM by right-clicking on the Radix DM Grabber and selecting the option Save Clipboard Contents from the Radix DM Grabber Context Menu. This option will only be available if there is information on the clipboard.

More than one document can be saved at a time into Radix DM. To do this, select multiple documents from the Desktop or Windows Explorer and drag them to the Radix DM Grabber. A dialog will ask whether you would like to profile documents individually or to use a single profile for all selected documents. Once the mode has been chosen the Document Save window will appear and the standard saving procedure can be implemented.
Files and even entire folders can also be saved into Radix DM in a similar manner from Windows Explorer. By right-clicking on a document or folder, you can choose one of two options from the Send To Context Menu. These options are MoveTo Radix DM and SendTo Radix DM. Documents that are sent to Radix DM remain in their original location. Documents that are moved will be removed from their original location after saving. As with multiple dragged documents, a dialog will ask whether you would like to profile documents individually or to use a single profile for all selected documents. Once the mode has been chosen the Document Save window will appear and the standard saving procedure can be implemented.

Radix DM can be used to store records for objects that do not exist as data that can be profiled on a computer. Some examples of this include physical paper files, CDs and other media, and storage boxes. This is a good way to maintain a complete catalogue of all information for a set of documents by encompassing both digital and physical formats.
To assign a document profile to an object by creating a document record, right-click on the Radix DM Grabber and select the option Create Document Record from the Radix DM Grabber Context Menu to bring up the Document Save window where the standard save procedure can proceed.
